Cam Newton is number one, literally

Cam Newton and his snaggle tooth was nice enough to show up in L.A. for some rookie event to improve his image grace fans with his presence at a rookie flag football game. Because, who doesn’t want to see the great Cam Newton play flag football?
At the game Newton rocked the number 00 (like all of the other rookies there) and was asked what number he wants to wear in the NFL since Jimmy Clausen wears number 2, the same number Newton wore at Auburn. Surprisingly, Newton was quoted sounding somewhat humble:
“I really don’t care. It’s just a number to me,” Newton told NFL.com. “Gossip sells, and I understand that with people hearing I wore No. 2 in college, and Jimmy has it right now, (but) it’s not a big deal to me. I just want to get that out of the way and throw it out there. It’s not the number. It’s the person wearing it.”
Cam Newton, humble? I was surprised too. Before you get too excited though, Newton was photographed the next day rocking the most egotistical number out there:
That’s right, No. 1. Then again, do you expect anything less of Cam Newton?
I think you are an idiot. What number is he supposed to wear? And the last time I saw a picture of Cam, he didn’t have any teeth missing. Can you say the same?
I hope he does wear the number 1 in the NFL. He deserves to wear that number and it will start his legacy in the NFL. Don’t Hate! Cam is going to be great!
Give me a break! Cam let’s the matter go and appears to have chosen the closet number to his college number, and apparently does so without fuss. That isn’t good enough for you, so now because it is the #1, it is the most egotistical number possible. Why isn’t Peyton’s #18, or Unitas’ #19 or Favre’s #4 or Montana’s #16 the most egotistical number? It wouldn’t have mattered which number he was photographed wearing, you would have found some reason to criticize the move.
Cam, prove all of these media vultures wrong when you finally get on the field. Congrats for making the big leagues and being drafted #1. I think you deserve to wear whatever number you want.
I hear a little tinge of hate in your voice. Big deal, he chose #1, he wanted something close to #2. Egotistical would’ve been him trying to get #2 from Clausen. If you’re going to hate on someone, get something substantial.
As an Eagles fan living in Panther Country stop knocking Cam. Give him a chance to play. Give him a chance to show his character. Give him a chance period. At least he showed up for teammate Jordon Gross’s charity event, got along with his ( hopefully, new teamates ) and produced a good showing in the community. I don’t care what number he wears as long as he gets to play!!
You know what’s funny he’s going to be a flop just like Jamarcus Russell, and Vince young can’t wait to watch this hahahaha
